Categorize a bank statement CSV without uploading it
Drop a CSV from your bank. In seconds you get every transaction sorted into categories, with monthly totals and a chart. The file is read inside your browser tab. There is no server to send it to.
Why people use it
- Your bank data stays on your device. No account, no upload, no tracking. The page is built so it can only contact one payment-processor address, and only when you enter a license key.
- Works with the CSV your bank already gives you. Checked against public sample exports for about 25 banks and apps (mostly European; few US samples, no UAE yet). It detects the date column, the amount (or money in / money out), the currency and the separator for you, and asks when a file is ambiguous (for example 05/03/2021).
- Turn a statement into a budget. See spending by category for each month, then export a clean CSV or a monthly summary to drop into your budget spreadsheet or tool.
- You stay in control. Change any category and the app remembers it as a rule. Add merchant names ("AMZN MKTP" shows as "Amazon"). Rules live in your browser.
How it works
- Download a CSV from your bank's website.
- Drop it on the page. Answer one or two questions if the file is unclear (date order, currency).
- Fix any categories you disagree with. Export.

Honest limits
- CSV only. PDF statements are not supported.
- Categories are automatic guesses from the text of each line. On our own test of public bank-export samples the automatic category matched our hand label about 3 times in 4 on formats it had not been tuned on, but only 3 in 5 for lines that belong in a real category (small test, 37 lines; treat it as a rough guide), and lines with unclear text (for example "Random Bill") stay in "Other" until you set a rule. Always check before using the numbers for tax.
- No currency conversion: each currency is totalled separately.
FAQ
Does my file get uploaded? No. It is read by the page in your browser and kept in memory. Close the tab and it is gone. See the privacy page.
What does it send out? Nothing, unless you enter a license key; then only the key goes to Dodo Payments to check it.
Which banks? Most banks that export CSV. If a layout is not recognised you can pick the date and amount columns yourself. See the export guides for how to get a CSV from some banks.
Can I use it offline? Once the page has loaded it does not need the network, except to activate a license key once.
Refunds? Yes: 14 days if it does not work on your bank's CSV. See the refund policy.
