Revolut statement to CSV: what the help page offers

For personal accounts, Revolut's help page lists the statement formats as PDF or Excel. It does not list CSV. Here is the route that page describes, and how to turn the Excel file into a CSV yourself.

Steps to get the statement (personal account)

  1. Go to Home, then tap Accounts under your balance.
  2. Select the currency.
  3. Tap More (...) and choose Statement.
  4. Select the timeframe and the document type: Excel (not PDF).
  5. Tap Generate, then use the export option to save or share the file.

Turn the Excel file into a CSV

  1. Open the downloaded Excel file in Excel, LibreOffice or Google Sheets.
  2. Use Save as (or File › Download in Google Sheets) and choose CSV.
  3. Check that the first row holds the column names and that amounts and dates look right before you drop it into the categorizer.

The categorizer reads CSV, not .xlsx, so this conversion step is needed. Saving as CSV from a spreadsheet can use a comma or a semicolon depending on your regional settings; the categorizer handles both.

Good to know

Have we tested a Revolut file?

Partly, and not independently. Two public Revolut CSV samples (October 2021 and January 2022, from an open-source importer project) were in the set we used while building the categorizer. We tuned the parser using that set, so a pass there is not proof it works on your file. We have not tested a file produced by the Excel-to-CSV route above, nor a current Revolut export.

Verification note: when we wrote this, Revolut's help site refused our automated reader (HTTP 403), so we confirmed the page's wording through search-engine excerpts of it, not by reading the page ourselves. Check the Statement screen in your app. This site is not affiliated with Revolut.

Then categorize it free, offline

Open the categorizer, drop the CSV on the page, and it sorts every line into categories with monthly totals. The file is read inside your browser tab and is not uploaded.

Open the free categorizer

Free: one file at a time, latest 3 months of it. Categories are automatic guesses; check them before using the numbers for tax. CSV only, no PDF.
