How to download your Wells Fargo transactions as CSV
Wells Fargo Online has a Download Account Activity page with a comma-delimited option that opens in a spreadsheet. These are the steps and limits from Wells Fargo's help page.
Steps
- Sign on to Wells Fargo Online and choose the account you want.
- Under the Accounts tab, open Download Account Activity and complete the required information.
- Confirm the From and To dates.
- Select Comma Delimited (ASCII, Spreadsheet).
- Click Download, then Save File and note the folder.
- To download another account, repeat the steps. Each file needs a different file name.
How far back
- By default the download covers the last 90 days.
- Wells Fargo lists, by account type: checking, savings and money market up to 18 months; line of credit and installment loan up to 24 months; credit card up to 90 days or 300 transactions.
Good to know
- The help page also lists Quicken Web Connect. Choose the comma-delimited option, not that one.
- The page does not describe the CSV columns. UNKNOWN to us. If the categorizer does not recognise the layout (for example if the file has no header row), you can pick the date and amount columns yourself.
Have we tested a Wells Fargo file?
No. None of the public sample files we tested came from Wells Fargo. Few of our samples are from US banks at all.

Then categorize it free, offline
Open the categorizer, drop the CSV on the page, and it sorts every line into categories with monthly totals. The file is read inside your browser tab and is not uploaded.
Free: one file at a time, latest 3 months of it. Categories are automatic guesses; check them before using the numbers for tax. CSV only, no PDF.
