Estimate the pay for annual leave days, or the payout for unused leave, from your monthly pay. Switch between basic salary only and basic plus fixed allowances to see the difference.
Estimate only, not legal advice. Confirm with MOHRE or your employer. Your contract or company policy may set a different basis.

What the official page says
The UAE government portal (u.ae), on types of leave in the private sector, last shown as updated on 14 October 2026 when we read it, says, citing the Labour Law (Federal Decree Law No. 33 of 2021):
- An employee who has completed one year of service is entitled to 30 days of fully paid annual leave.
- If service exceeds six months but is less than one year, the employee is entitled to 2 days of leave for each month of service.
- If the employee's service ends before the leave is used, they are entitled to leave for the fraction of the last year worked.
- If an employee ends employment before taking leave, they are paid for unused leave, and for leave accrued in part of a year, calculated on the basis of basic salary.
- Carried-over unused leave, where the employer agrees, is also paid on the basis of basic salary.
Basic only, or basic plus allowances?
The u.ae page names basic salary as the basis for paying unused leave. That is why basic only is the default here. Some contracts and company policies pay leave on the full package, and some people ask what the difference would be before a conversation with HR. The switch lets you see both numbers side by side. Choose the one your contract states. If it is silent, ask HR or MOHRE.
The formula
- Monthly pay used = basic salary, or basic + fixed allowances if you switch.
- Daily rate = monthly pay used / 30.
- Leave pay = leave days x daily rate.
- Accrual estimate (optional): 12 months or more in the leave year gives 30 days; more than 6 and under 12 months gives 2 days a month.
Assumptions and limits
The official page does not say how to convert monthly pay into a daily rate. We divide by 30, which is common practice but our assumption. For service of 6 months or less, and for the fraction of the last year at the end of employment, the page does not give a day count, so the calculator does not guess: type the days yourself once you know them.
It also does not model half-pay leave, public holidays that fall inside leave (the page says they count as part of annual leave unless your terms are better), or part-time rules, which the page says follow actual working hours in the contract.
Worked example
Basic AED 6,000 and fixed allowances AED 2,000, 30 days. Basic only: daily rate 200, leave pay AED 6,000. Basic plus allowances: daily rate 266.67, leave pay AED 8,000.

Frequently asked questions
Does leave salary use basic salary or the full package?
The u.ae page says unused leave is paid on the basis of basic salary. Some contracts or company policies use basic plus allowances. The calculator has a switch so you can see both.
How many days of annual leave do I get?
The u.ae page says 30 days fully paid after one year of service, and 2 days for each month of service if you have worked more than six months but less than a year.
What happens to unused leave when I leave the job?
The u.ae page says you are paid for unused annual leave, and for leave accrued in the last part of a year, calculated on basic salary.
Can I carry leave over to next year?
The u.ae page says unused leave can be carried over with the employer's consent, and the unused days are then paid on the basis of basic salary.
Why does the calculator use 30 days for the daily rate?
The official pages do not define a daily rate. Dividing monthly pay by 30 is common practice, but it is our assumption, so confirm it with your employer or MOHRE.
Is anything I type saved or sent?
No. The estimate is calculated in your browser and nothing is stored or sent.
